Tucked away in Menlo Park and a hop away from Facebook is the ultra cool, yet still approachable Hotel Nia. I stayed here for a few days while I was in town for work which is often code for “I won’t be able to enjoy the hotel since I will be working the entire time.” However, this time it was different. Once you valet, you can walk through the set of double doors directly into their spacious lobby. There was minimal signage to clutter your view which made you slightly forget that you were staying at a Marriott property. The front desk staff was polite and efficient. I was checked into my room within minutes and left the front desk with a bottled water and a pair of custom chocolate truffles.
Now let’s chat about my room. My really cool room. It all started with the “DO NOT DISTURB” digital light that sits in front of your door. Want to sleep in? Just hit the “sleep” button by the door and the light indicates housekeeping that you need your zzz’s. The room is clean and minimal. Lights on the perimeter of the bed and headboard, electrical blinds in the bathroom and the coolest hotel closet that I have ever seen. Picture orange, acrylic accordion doors. There were more plugs than I could count which is great since I arrived and quickly needed to plug in my iPhone, iPad, lap top, Apple Watch, Beats headphones, a printer for work, my camera battery and my two Mophie chargers. I am already judging myself for that last sentence so spare me. 🙂 The bathroom was spacious with the shower and tub in the same glass and tile enclosed space. Splash at your own discretion. Rubber ducky included. (Please, be sure to close the blinds)
Because I need coffee in the morning… every morning, I stumbled down to Verve to grab a cup of joe. Joe did not disappoint. I ordered a vanilla latte to go with a bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. It was a quick morning bite that was surprisingly good. Like extremely good. So good, in fact, that I came down to the lobby to order a second latte two hours later.
And in case this hotel wasn’t cool enough, there is an option to book an influencer package. No need to have 100K followers. They’ll provide a Hotel Nia branded selfie stick, a map of all the Instagrammable spots in Silicon Valley and a picture perfect breakfast for two at their restaurant Porta Blu.
